Semiconductor Materials
Explore wafer/substrate processing with specialised cutting, backgrinding and polishing tools. Individual operations require material-specific tooling; this does not imply every machine on this site is a wafer grinder.
Selection focus
- Silicon and SiC substrates
- Thinning and surface preparation
- Application-specific tooling
Provide the material, drawing, incoming condition and target finish. The correct machine, abrasive and workholding need to be assessed together.
Different wafer stages need different tools
The published route spans ingot preparation, lapping, edge processing, surface processing, back grinding and dicing. A double-side lapping step is only one part of that chain.
Specify the stage and substrate
The source discusses silicon and references tools for sapphire and compound-semiconductor materials. Match the tool to the actual substrate, diameter, thickness, process stage and surface requirements; the page does not establish that one double-disc machine covers all of these tasks.
Tools across the wafer route
The source lists diamond bandsaw blades, cylindrical and surface wheels, edge wheels, hub and hubless dicing blades, and PU polishing pads. For the current double-disc scope, compare the lapping/grinding discs and polishing pads before requesting a stage-specific configuration.
Separate lapping from edge grinding and dicing
The manufacturer’s published sequence assigns separate tool types to cutting, outer-surface preparation, wafer-edge processing, lapping, polishing, back grinding and dicing. This distinction helps avoid choosing a flat-face tool for an unrelated operation.
Define the incoming and target wafer condition
Use the source’s stage map to identify where your operation sits. A job-specific recipe still needs substrate details, incoming thickness and condition, removal allowance, workholding and acceptance measurements. No validated recipe for your wafer is supplied by this overview.
Scope information, not fab qualification
The page supplies no job-specific particle-contamination limit, wafer yield, throughput or qualification evidence. Confirm the relevant process documents and trials before treating any listed tool or machine as qualified for production.
